Personal trainer climbs the height of Mount Everest on Stairmaster, raising over £500 for Rotherham Hospice

AN “INSPIRING” personal trainer raising funds for a local charity really stepped up to the mark — 58,000 times!

Josh Bows, who works for the gym services team at I-Motion in Parkgate, took up the challenge to climb the height of Mount Everest entirely on a Stairmaster machine to raise money for Rotherham Hospice.

And the 19-year-old not only smashed his target time of between 12 and 19 hours by taking 13 hours and two minutes to scale the 9,000 metres, he also topped his fundraising target of £500.

Josh, who lives in Whiston, said: “It was the support of everyone at the gym that kept me going throughout the day.

“Everyone cheered me on and helped push me to the end.”

The gym’s general manager, Matt Ardron, said: “We work with Rotherham Hospice for all our current fundraising so Josh was more than happy to raise money for them.

“We couldn’t be prouder of Josh and what he has achieved with his charity fundraising efforts.

“He’s an inspiration to everyone and we look forward to seeing what he will do next.”

Sophie Barnett, fundraising development manager at Rotherham Hospice, said: “It takes a special kind of person to put themselves through that kind of challenge.

“Josh’s fundraising means when a person needs end-of-life care, Rotherham Hospice is there to help that person enjoy the best quality of life they can, and families can focus on spending precious time together.

“It is only thanks to our amazing supporters that Rotherham Hospice can keep providing quality care to our local community.”
