Paul Chuckle returns to South Yorkshire with 'iconic play'
ROTHERHAM entertainment legend Paul Chuckle is heading back to a local stage in a major new touring production of The Rise and Fall of Little Voice.
Sheffield Theatres has announced that the much-loved performer will appear alongside Jill Halfpenny and Francesca Mills when Jim Cartwright’s acclaimed comedy-drama visits the Lyceum from February 9-13, 2027.
The newly awarded MBE, recipient (real name Paul Elliott,) will play Mr Boo in the production, directed by former Sheffield Theatres artistic director Robert Hastie.
The role is the latest addition to a busy schedule for the 78-year-old, who once explained his acting background as: "I went to RADA... the Rotherham Academy of Dramatic Arts!"

Best known as one half of the Chuckle Brothers alongside late brother Barry, Paul has continued to build a varied acting career, appearing in The Madame Blanc Mysteries, feature films and regular pantomimes while also maintaining charity commitments.
Little Voice is a story of a shy young woman whose extraordinary singing talent is discovered by her mother’s scheming boyfriend. Featuring songs made famous by Judy Garland and Billie Holiday, the play has become one of the most celebrated British dramas of the past 30 years.
Announcing his involvement earlier this year, Chuckle said he was delighted to be joining the cast of Cartwright’s “iconic play”.
For local audiences, it offers another chance to see one of South Yorkshire’s most enduring and versatile performers in a major theatrical role.

He will also perform at London's National Theatre before dates stretching from Newcastle to Plymouth.
Tickets for new shows at Sheffield Theatres going on sale are available to book by Centre Stage Members from 10am Saturday, June 6, with general booking opening on Saturday June 13.
Tickets can be booked through the Box Office in person, over the phone on 0114 249 6000, or at www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk.
