New children's commissioner for Rotherham
Cllr Patricia Bradwell was appointed to the Government intervention team by the Department for Communities and Local Government.
The Tory councillor, who will continue her roles in Lincolnshire, replaces Malcolm Newsam, who quit after 18 months in the role.

Hide AdSir Derek Myers, Rotherham Borough Council’s lead commissioner, said: “We are pleased to have commissioner Patricia Bradwell in place.
“We will work together to continue to build on the work we are doing here at the council.”
Cllr Bradwell has executive responsibilities for adult care and children’s services at the county council, taking over the latter portfolio in 2005.
The county council will become a practice improvement partner to provide peer support and challenge in Rotherham. This will be led by Debbie Barnes, director of children’s services in Lincolnshire.

Hide AdMr Newsam was appointed after Ofsted flagged up serious and widespread failings in the wake of the Jay report.
He continued in his role when the Government appointed four other commissioners after the council was judged unfit for purpose by Louise Casey.
