Mum’s praise for Bluebell Wood

A MUM whose son visits Bluebell Wood for respite care praised the charity’s work as she opened its new furniture store.

Kerry White, of Maltby, cut the ribbon at the children’s hospice’s new, bigger premises at Hellaby on Monday (28).

Three-year-old son Jacob attends the North Anston hospice for respite and Kerry said the whole family — including husband Jason and older son Leo and daughter Mia — enjoy spending time there.

She added: “Bluebell Wood is absolutely amazing. Jacob loves going, he gets such great care and attention from all of the care team.

“Leo goes to the sibling group and this gives him the chance to be himself and meet others who experience similar situations to him.”

Kerry used to work at the same premises on Hellaby’s industrial estate 14 years ago when it was owned by an office and stationery firm.

She said: “It’s amazing to know that people can donate their unwanted furniture and it helps to make a huge difference to families like ours who benefit so much from Bluebell Wood.”

The shop stocks second hand home furnishings, homeware and electrical items and collection of donations can be arranged by the charity.

Head of retail James Bower thanked Kerry and Jacob for opening the new shop and added: “We’re here to make sure families like theirs continue to get specialist support while surrounded by love and laughter.

“Furniture donations help to raise substantial amounts for our hospice to keep its vital services open to children and families across South Yorkshire and beyond.”

The shop is open from 10am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Volunteers are sought to serve customers, work in the warehouse and complete deliveries.

Contact Joanne Ward or Sandra Hind on 01909 517360 email [email protected] or drop into the shop for an application form.
