MBE awarded for a career protecting South Yorkshire residents from abuse

ROTHERHAM woman Suzanne Jackson has been awarded an MBE by the Princess Royal in recognition of a career safeguarding South Yorkshire residents from abuse.

The former detective inspector is now South Yorkshire Police’s domestic abuse risk assessor manager, based at the Maltby station, and was chosen for the award in the King’s Birthday Honours list.

She travelled to Buckingham Palace for the ceremony and afterwards said:“Today has been an amazing experience. I am grateful for the support of my family. friends, team and managers and their pride in my achievements.

“But the important people are those who I have been able to safeguard from violence and abuse throughout my career; this is for you.

“My hope is that this continues to raise awareness of the issues of female genital mutilation, honour-based abuse and forced marriage and I will carry on working with my dedicated colleagues to ensure we keep protecting vulnerable people from harm.”
