“They both really enjoyed it and their attendance undoubtedly made the event extra special.”

The Mayor said he had a “great time” at the event which saw guests get together for a two-course meal with entertainment by friendship lunch fan favourite Oliver Harris.

The performer has sung at numerous lunches since they were launched in Rotherham venues in 2021, with guests now wearing t-shirts featuring him.

Kathy added: “These events are important – because they are 'dementia friendly' they aim to tackle the huge problem of loneliness and social isolation in our communities.”
