Mayor goes shopping after ribbon cutting

THE Mayor of Rotherham was in bargain-bagging form when she opened Rotherham’s newest charity shop.

Cllr Maggi Clark had a browse around after cutting the ribbon at the YMCA whire Rose shop at the myplace youth centre in St Ann’s.

"The Mayor was really impressed with how fresh and smart the shop is, and the quality of the clothes, shoes and household items we have on the shelves,” said Denise Gracia, who helped to set up the shop in her capacity as retail consultant for YMCA White Rose.

“She had a browse and made a few purchases.”

YMCA White Rose is also using the shop to provide apprenticeship opportunities for young people, whose arts and crafts itesm wil also be on sale.

The shop at Myplace, which is home to several community groups, is open from 9am to 4.30pm on weekdays and the volunteers staffing it are appealing for donations of clothing, toys, bric-a-brac and household items.

Goods can be taken to mylace or to YMCA White Rose’s other charity shops on Bellhouse Road in Firth Park, St John's Green in Kimberworth and on Mexborough High Street.
