Magna focus for Yorkshire's Children in Need fun

CHILDREN in Need comes to Rotherham’s Magna centre tomorrow when it hosts the Yorkshire regional section of the annual charity marathon.

BBC Radio Sheffield presenter Toby Foster and Nicola Rees of BBC Look North will be joined by 120 singers, who have been recruited from schools across Doncaster, Sheffield and Leeds. The choir will perform in front of the centre’s Face of Steel.

And the public will be able to join in the fun for free, as the centre is staying open until 9pm.

Joanna Dunn, marketing manager, at Magna, said:  "We are really excited about taking part in such a fantastic event. Every year Children in Need raises tens of millions for needy children and, as a family attraction, it is very apt that we should do our bit.

"It shows that Magna is a great venue for all sorts of events. In the last few months we have hosted everything from major business conferences and the Olympic torch relay to wedding receptions and a BBC Philharmonic concert."

The TV show will be anchored at Television Centre by Sir Terry Wogan, Fearne Cotton, Tess Daly and Nick Grimshaw, who will be joined by a host of celebrities including Susan Boyle, Little Mix, Ann Widdecombe and Olympic Gold medallist Nicola Adams.

Presenter and former chorister Aled Jones will lead a choir at Television Centre in a performance of "Bridge Over Troubled Water". They will be joined by hundreds of young singers live on TV from 12 different venues across the UK, including Magna.
