Lottery grant joy for counselling group

ROTHERHAM Women’s Counselling Service has scooped a £430,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

The group, based on Moorgate Road, offers free and confidential support to women who have suffered violence or abuse.

The latest round of grants, through the BIG’s Reaching Communities programme, will see £1.5 million shared between six Yorkshire causes.

BIG region head Vanessa White said: “This funding will make a big difference to groups across Yorkshire and the Humber and provide vital support for some of the region’s most vulnerable people.”

BIG is the largest distributor of National Lottery good cause funding and has awarded more than £4.4 billion since 2004.
