SCHOOL pupils had a visit from a very special feathered friend.

Brookfield Junior Academy welcomed Olive the barn owl and Charlie Schofield from Hooton Lodge Farm for a lesson with a difference.

Pupils at the school, in Lime Grove, Swinton, got to learn all about Olive's species which is nocturnal over most of its range.

Lisa Crook, EYFS, KS1, DSL and early reading lead at Brookfield, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Charlie for giving up his precious time and answering our children’s questions and giving them such a memorable experience.

“This has enhanced the science curriculum for our year 2 children and made learning around the owl babies book memorable for our Foundation stage children.

“We would also like to say a huge thank you to the parents of Brookfield for their generous donations to Rotherham Hospital which is going to Hooton Lodge’s chosen charity!”
