Lizzie's studies off to a flying start thanks to Jeremy Beadle

A CHARITY in memory of TV’s Jeremy Beadle has helped a teenage girl kickstart her university studies.

Undergraduate Lizzie Carr (18) was awarded £1,000 to help with books, stationery and other essentials for life at Sheffield Hallam University.

The Rotherham-based Jeremy Beadle Morthyng Memorial Trust raises money to assist worthy grant applicants with education.

Successful applicant Lizzie, of Kimberworth, will read biomedical sciences. She said: “This money will be a fantastic kickstart to my course.

“I have always been interested in biology and science and achieving this degree is what I have always wanted.”

Chair of trustees Ann Lawrence said: “I am delighted that through previous fund-raising events, in memory of and in recognition of the educational legacy of Jeremy Beadle, we are now in a position to start dispensing grants.”
