Goldthorpe Library to close for revamp

The Barnsley Road facility will close on December 31 until February 4. As part of the scheme Barnsley Connects housing services will move into the library.

The aim of the work is to enable residents to access a full range of council services such as Berneslai Homes, council tax, housing benefits, registrars and welfare rights as well as the usual library service, all from one building.

A Barnsley Council spokeswoman said: “During the closure period, books can be borrowed from or returned to any other library and no fines will be charged for items due back during that period.

“Remember, if you have a PIN number, you can always use the libraries website to renew your books during the closure period.”
