Final farewell to Lennox, 13, as ‘warrior’ honoured in blue-lined Rotherham streets
Crowds dressed head-to-toe in baby blue lined the streets as family and friends gathered to say goodbye to 13-year-old Lennox Griffiths.
Lennox, from Rotherham, died on Thursday, March 26, after a near year-long battle with a rare cancer, chondroblast osteosarcoma.
He had undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy after first going to hospital in May 2025 with what was initially thought to be a pulled muscle.

By September, he had his arm amputated in an effort to stop the cancer from spreading.
In November, he was given the all clear and went on to make the most of his time, including a trip to Egypt earlier this year.
Outside the family home in Kimberworth Park, a sea of pale blue stretched across the street while fences were draped with blue bows and balloons, including one marked with the number 13.

People stood shoulder-to-shoulder, many in custom t-shirts bearing Lennox’s name and face alongside the words “Forever 13” printed across the back.
Others wore tops emblazoned with the word “warrior”, alongside an image of Lennox on a motorbike - a tribute to his love of vehicles.
In the crowd, a mother clutched her young son, gently comforting him as he took in the scene around him.

Ahead of the procession, family and friends stood silently as a portable van carrying a large LED screen played a montage of Lennox’s life.
Photos and videos flickered across the screen - Lennox walking in wellies that were too big for him and another humorous moment showing him fishing.
Music played over the footage as those gathered watched quietly.
Cars filled the streets along the route, many decorated with blue ribbons.

Several four-by-fours displayed large photographs of Lennox, his smiling face framed by messages reading: “Sleep tight little man, fly high Lennox.”
Light blue heart-shaped balloons bobbed in the breeze above them.
Motorbikes also lined up nearby, in memory of what his mum, Zoe, said he loved.
In the days leading up to his death, loved ones gathered to share memories and spend time with him.

One relative described him as “far too precious for this world”, adding: “He was a loveable rogue and he will be missed dearly by everybody in his family, by his friends and especially by his mum, stepdad and brother.”
Another shared the words: “If only love could have saved you.”
His mum, Zoe Lindley, repeated a phrase she often said to her sons - “love you all world”.
Lennox’s funeral is taking place on Thursday afternoon at Rotherham Crematorium, followed by a wake at Park View Bar & Function Suite in Swinton.
