Fears for Rotherham Schools Music Service in cutbacks
Now teaching union members are asking the parents, head teachers and school governors to give their backing to the Rotherham Schools' Music Service, which is having to trim £300,000 from its budget.
Eight jobs are in danger at the service but the Rotherham Teachers’ Association, a division of the National Union of Teachers, says it is a “vitally important” service with excellent links to Rotherham schools.

Spokesman Peter Hawridge said the group feared that schools and parents may opt out of the service if teaching fees are increased which would mean more cutbacks.
He said the group wanted more schools to buy back the service on behalf of their pupils.
He added that parents and schools could express their support for ther service by writing to the Head of the Music Service at Thurcroft Junior School, Thurcroft, Rotherham.
