Among those taking part were a group of colleagues from Tesco in Wath.

Suzanne Nettleton, community champion at the store, said, “It was an extremely rainy, thundering and lightning kind of day, but everyone involved stayed until the end and made the most of it.

“This is such an important day for Tesco Wath as we’ve taken part for the past four or five years.

Beth Cole, events fundraiser at the charity, said: “Taking on Manvers Lake in the rain wasn’t easy, but they did it in good spirits and everyone had a fantastic day.”

The Manvers Waterfront Boat Club, hosts of the event, previously won a Tesco community grant in 2022 with a record number of votes from Tesco shoppers.
