Deadline looms for review of Dearne Valley ward boundaries

DEARNE Valley residents have until February 3 to have their say on the layout of wards in Doncaster.

The Boundary Commission is currently carrying out a review into the way the borough is represented after a decision last November to slash the number of councillors from 63 to 54.

Members of the independent local government body want to hear from residents before compiling their recommendations for new ward boundaries.

A spokesman for the commission said: “In November, we agreed that the council should have 54 councillors in the future.

“It now aims to draw up ward boundaries that mean each of those councillors represents a similar number of voters and that the new wards reflect the interests and identities of local communities.

“We will consider all views given during the consultation and aim to publish draft recommendations for new ward boundaries in April.”
