Council has betrayed trust

Firstly, we now learn from Cllr Akhtar’s letter that he again did not disclose that a further loan to Magna of £250,000 was given in April 2013 which is still outstanding, That was certainly within the last five years. Tut Tut

I WOULD like the opportunity of replying to Cllr Jahangir Akhtar’s letter in the Advertiser (March 14).

Secondly, why in his letter has he failed to mention the housing debt which when added to the revenue account debt increases it further to £488m? I think I was being generous with my figure quoted of £400m

Thirdly, he challenges the opposition to show how we could make savings. Now how could that be realistic when from his own track record of failing to disclose the true costs to questions, what chance would anyone have when you are only given part of the information needed from such an open and transparent Labour run council.

Convenient memory loss appears to be something linked to the Labour leadership in Rotherham.

So Cllr Akhtar when in a hole get out of the JCB and stop digging yourself in further.

You and your Labour council have betrayed the trust the people of Rotherham put in you.
