Coffee drinkers brew-up for charity

CHARITABLE cake-lovers are raising a cup for Macmillan Cancer Care again this year.

Groups around the borough are taking part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to raise funds for the charity.

Cllr Rose McNeely is serving up coffee and cake at the Town Hall, in memory of late husband Vince.

The event lasts from 10am until 1pm and includes a charity raffle, the top prize in which was a 32-inch TV.

Dinnington St John Town Council will hold their cake sale tomorrow (Friday) at the Lyric Theatre, Laughton Road between 10am and 1pm.

The town’s three supermarkets have each offered £50 of cakes to stock the council’s refreshments table.

Cllr Pat Smith said: “It will give people the opportunity to meet some of their new town councillors, as well as raising money for a worthwhile charity.”

The Advertiser jumped the gun and held its own fund-raiser on Tuesday, when staff donated around £80 to Macmillan.
