Charity’s appeal to help the blind

A CHARITY is on the hunt for volunteers to act as human guide dogs.

Guide Dogs uses helpers as guiders for people with sight problems and needs more assistance in the Rotherham area.

A spokesman said: “We have people in Rotherham waiting to use the service now, so are urgently seeking people who can offer an hour or so a week to help out.

“This is a one-to-one volunteer role, initially for a three to six-month period. “After checks are completed, we will provide full training and support, and reimburse out-of-pocket expenses.

“By volunteering, you will make a real difference to the lives of others in the local community, at the same time as meeting new people and learning a great new skill.”
