Bra-vo! Claire's 'boobies' fund-raiser tops £6,000 for Breast Cancer Care

BRAVE breast cancer sufferer Claire Davis raised more than £6,000 for charity at her Bye Bye Boobies event.

Claire, of Melciss Road, Wickersley, asked guests at her fund-raiser to donate an unwanted bras to Breast Cancer Care at the event, held at the Carlton Park Hotel, Rotherham.

More than 300 people attended and 290 bras were donated, which BCC will recycle through a special Bra Bank. They will be sent to developing countries and BCC will receive £1 a kilo for them.

Claire (40), organised the event while undergoing treatment for inflammatory breast cancer, during which she underwent a double mastectomy last month.

She said: “I have 20 or so bras now that I’ve no use for so I’ve asked everyone else to bring one along and help Breast Cancer Care, who have been really helpful.

“It’s nice that something positive will come of them when otherwise I was just going to have to throw mine away.”
