Another Rotherham kids' home set to close

ANOTHER Rotherham children’s home could be closed by the end of January.

Council commissioner Malcolm Newsam will decide on a proposal to begin consultation on shutting St Edmunds at Thurcroft on Monday.

Rotherham Borough Council deputy leader Cllr Gordon Watson said: “The children and young people we look after deserve the very best care.

“We believe that this is best provided in a family setting, such as by foster families, and are now reviewing all of our services in line with this long-term plan.”

The move follows the closure of Woodview at Kimberworth Park in October after it had also been rated inadequate by Ofsted.
