Passers-by talk man down from Mexborough bridge
POLICE and passers-by rushed to help after a man threatened to jump from a bridge in Mexborough at the weekend.
The man was on Bambury Bridge, which links Mexborough and Denaby, on Sunday evening when the incident happened.
Sarah Thompson, who was among those who stopped to help, said: “Thank God I was driving by tonight to help a gent as his son was going to jump off the bridge.

Hide Ad“A few lads helped a policeman get him back over onto the path — hope all goes OK.
“Thank you to other members of the public who stopped to help.”
A police spokeswoman said: “Emergency services were called at around 9.05pm on Sunday 5 July, following reports of concern for a man on a bridge in Doncaster Road, Mexborough.
“The man was later detained and taken to hospital.”
