Passengers told: Check your bus timetables

BUS passengers in the Dearne are being advised to check their timetables after several changes by bus company Stagecoach — including some services and some late-night journeys being scrapped.

The firm said some routes would operate revised timetables to improve punctuality, including the X27 from Barnsley to Wombwell.

The timetable for service 67 Barnsley to Wombwell will be revised at peak journey times, as will timetables throughout the week on Rawmarsh Circles 108/109.

The 22:35 Rotherham to Goldthorpe journey on service 218 Barnsley to Rotherham will terminate at Mexborough all week “due to low passenger usage and withdrawal of SYPTE funding”, Stagecoach said.

Service 216 Wombwell to Grimethorpe will have a reduced timetable, with the morning and evening trips replaced by journeys on service 219.

This is aimed at better catering for demand to and from XPO Logistics at shift change times.

Following customer requests, the 08:55 219 service from Barnsley and 13:55 from Doncaster will both operate via Cadeby Village on Mondays to Fridays.

After customer feedback and to improve connections at Manvers shift change times, some journeys on service 220 will be retimed.

The 22:30 Cortonwood to Conisbrough journey will be withdrawn due to low passenger usage and withdrawal of SYPTE funding.

But there is an extension to the 23:05 departure from Rotherham on service 221 after passenger requests, with the bus now going on to Mexborough’s Windhill estate every evening.

On the 222 service from Barnsley to Mexborough, the weekdays 05:53 Mexborough to Barnsley journey will start from Wath at 06:21, and the Saturday 07:00 Barnsley to Mexborough journey will be withdrawn due to low passenger usage and withdrawal of SYPTE funding.

Service 228, Rotherham to Wath, is being withdrawn with alternative facilities available on services 22x, 22a and 22c.

The N27 Barnsley to Grimethorpe night bus will be withdrawn due to low usage.

John Young, commercial director, Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “Many of the alterations we are making are based directly on feedback from our customers and front line staff.

“We continually monitor our services to ensure we can run punctually. Listening to our customers helps us to further improve our offer.”
