Party as hub for adults with learning difficulties reopens


The Meeting Place offered outings and activities from its Wingfield base for 25 years, before national charity Mencap removed its funding under budget pressure.
The service relocated to the Chislett Centre, Kimberworth Park while money was raised to reclaim the group’s premises.

Hide AdOrganisers and around 100 service users returned to the Wingfield venue with a “welcome home” party recently.
The party featured food, music and dancing, table magic and a turn by singing policeman PCSO Paul Newman.
Meeting Place founder Julie Haystead said: “We saw lots of familiar faces and a few new people as well.
“This is a home away from home for many people and they were all pleased to be back.
