Off-duty police officer dies from collision injuries

AN OFF-duty Rotherham police officer who was knocked down by a car in Sheffield has died from his injuries.

The 44-year-old was involved in a collision with a blue Vauxhall Corsa in Staniforth Road, Sheffield, last Wednesday (28) night and is understood to have passed away at around 6am this morning.

The man, a Rotherham-based South Yorkshire Police officer, was taken to hospital with multiple injuries following the incident ten days ago.

South Yorkshire Police has appealed for witnesses to the collision. Anyone with information should contact officers on the non-emergency number, 101.
