New supermarket to open in Mexborough

Construction work is almost complete at the new Lidl, just off the A6023 bypass, which has created 14 jobs.

The new store will open at 8am on December 15.

Georgina Hall of Lidl said: “Mexborough was chosen because it was identified as having significant potential for future development and expansion.

“It also has an underprovision of existing food retail facilities and a strong local demand for a Lidl store.

“As well as a value-for-money shopping experience, it has also brought new jobs to the area, which is positive news in the current economic climate.”
