Murder at Meadowhell!

ARTIST Craig Daley has decided to mark the 20th anniversary of the Meadowhall shopping centre in an unusual way—by immortalising it in comic strip form.

Under his CD Comics brand, Craig has published a humorous detective/horror graphic novel on CD ROM set in and around “Meadowhell.”

Following on from digital comic Manhattan 1930, which was released earlier this year, the story deals with the fictional murder of three security guards two months before the centre’s opening.

The murders take place on the night of the Summer Solstice in 1990 and DCI Bramley of the Met is called in to deal with the triple homicide.

The fast-paced investigation that follows leads the police into areas they had not expected and ends with several shocking discoveries.

Craig Daley worked for a few years on the comic strip, The Jerks, for the national magazine, Making Music, but said that this was a return to his roots, being a South Yorkshire lad and preferring the longer comic book format.

"It's Hammer Horror meets Silent Witness with a bit of Richard Dawkins to confuse matter,” he said.

CD Comics, Meadowhell, is available at the Sheffield Space Centre, 33 The Wicker, for £2.50.
