MPs face business questions

FOUR South Yorkshire MPs are to make up the panel at a special forum for the region's business community in the New Year.

Wentworth and Dearne MP John Healey, who is also the Shadow Secretary of State for Health, will be joined on the panel by Rother Valley’s Kevin Barron and fellow MPs Eric Illsley and Angela Smith at the Question Time-style event, which will be held on Friday, January 28 at the Park Inn, Rotherham.

The forum, held by Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, will be chaired by Chris Rea OBE, managing director of AESSEAL Ltd and questions on any business issues can be submitted for the panel.

Mr Rea said: “This unique event allows those who represent us and their constituents an opportunity to exchange views and opinions leading to that rarest of commodities - effective communication.”

Andrew Denniff, the chamber’s executive director, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for businesses to come along and listen to how our local MPs are reacting to current government policy.

“There will also be the chance to ask questions on some of the burning issues of the day.”

Questions for the panel should be submitted to [email protected] no later than 5pm on Wednesday, January 26.
