MP helps save post office from permanent closure

MP JOHN Healey has welcomed news that a post office will be saved from permanent closure.

The Wentworth & Dearne MP was concerned when the Rawmarsh branch closed on January 15, but said he had been working behind the scenes to find a new location.

The former Kilnhurst Road branch will now reopen on April 27 on Pit Lane.

Mr Healey said: “I know residents in this part of Rawmarsh were upset when they heard that the branch would be closing and it’s really good news that the post office will reopen close to its original location.

“Having access to a post office in this part of Rawmarsh is important for the community.

“A lot of people rely on this community service to send and pick up parcels. It’s fantastic news.”
