Mother Goose set to be best panto yet pledges theatre group

A THEATRE group is back stage preparing for its seventh pantomime and members are promising it will be the “best yet.”

Far Out Theatre group will present Mother Goose at Montgomery Hall, Wath-upon-Dearne from January 5 to 9.

Since 2005, the company has gone from strength to strength and this year’s performance promises to be their best to date.

And education director, Vicky Evans, said that it had all been made possible thanks to just under £5,000 from the Coalfield's Regeneration Trust (CRT).

She said: “Without the funding it’s unlikely that we could have staged Mother Goose at the same level as we are doing.

“The sets and costumes this year are outstanding and we’ve been able to include lots of performers from across the community.

“The show is great fun, we’ve got loads of silly songs and dances you can join in with, a brilliant panto dame, a crazy comedy duo and even a flying cow—everything you’d expect from a pantomime and more.”

The funding from the CRT has also allowed the group to develop their website and sell tickets on line.

“It’s a brilliant facility for us” said Far Out panto dame, Gary Horler. “It means that anyone with a computer or access to the Internet can choose where they’d like to sit and ensure that they get their tickets asap.

“The system is so easy to use and it’s really helped our little community organisation become part of the age of technology.”

Shows start at 7.30pm from Wednesday to Saturday, with a matinee at 2.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.
