Minister becomes Lord Mayor

A FORMER Rotherham Methodist minister will become Lord Mayor of Bradford next year.

 

 

Cllr Rev Geoff Reid, who served in Rotherham in the 1970s and recently preached at a special service marking the 50th Anniversary of the Wickersley Methodist Church Wives Group, has been made Bradford Council’s Lord Mayor Designate for the Civic Year 2016-17.

Cllr Reid served as a minister the church for 39 years before his retirement in 2009.

In October 1974, he became the first Liberal candidate since 1918 to stand for the old Rother Valley Constituency, securing 9828 votes.
