Millmoor tube train plan go-ahead

PLANNERS have approved scrap metal firm CF Booth’s proposals to use Millmoor to store decommissioned tube trains.

The former Rotherham United owners won a contract to recycle the carriages, which were used on the London Underground’s Victoria line.

Most of the trains will be sent directly to CF Booth’s dismantling yard in Armer Street Rotherham.

But the former United base can be used for up to 18 months if the pace of deliveries increases too fast.

Manufacturers in Derby will provide new trains as Transport for London renovates the tube system ahead of the 2012 Olympics.
