Mexborough shop takes on Tour de France challenge

OPTICIANS staff have their eyes on the road ahead after taking on a Tour de France-inspired challenge.

Workers at Specsavers in Mexborough have been pedalling hard to complete a 118-mile ride on exercise bikes to raise funds for the Back Up Trust, which helps people with back injures.

They are aiming to reach the finish line on Saturday after six days in the saddle.

Store director Lorna Armitage said: “You can’'t help but feel excited about the arrival of this summer’s cycling event — it’s probably a once in a lifetime experience for all of us.

“We’ve decided to take inspiration and celebrate the event by getting on our bike and turning our pedal power into much needed funds for Back Up.

“It will be a team effort and I applaud every one of them for getting into the spirit of the occasion and taking part.

“I’d urge people to come down, cheer them on and help top up the charity tin.

“A distance of 118 miles is no mean feat so all support and donations will be very much appreciated.”
