Mexborough set for music video stardom

DJ Damon Deakin will be filming on High Street to create a video for a new song called Show Me Heaven.

Damon (32), who lives in Mexborough, performs as 2 Klubberz with his co-producer and co-writer Kevin Scott.

He will also be filming inside a club in the town and said filming in Mexborough is his way of saying thanks to the people who have supported his career.

Damon said: “We have been part of the underground dance scene for the last five or six years but we intend to do something a bit more commercial with this song.

“We have got a couple of record companies interested in the song but it gives us a better chance to get a deal if we have a video.

“It’s got to be worth a go.

“What we are hoping to achieve is to bring some attention to the town.

“The video will be a bit of good publicity for Mexborough for a change.”

Damon said that people from the area will feature as characters in the video story and it was being made by a Barnsley-based film-maker.

He said Christy Jones, of Swinton, will play the female lead role in the video story.

Damon said that filming on High Street would take place at around noon on Saturday.

On Saturday evening, filming will switch to the Corner Pocket on Bank Street, where a club night is open to the public while filming takes place.

The event will start at 6.30pm and admission will cost £2.

Damon said it will be a chance for people to see how a video is made and perhaps even be in it.

He said: “Whether it’s going to be rammed solid on Saturday or not remains to be seen but I think it’s a tantalising offer for people.”
