Met Office warn of heavy rain

UP TO 25mm of rain could fall in just an hour in some parts of the borough today, prompting flooding fears.

The Met Office has issued a yellow "be aware" warning as heavy, thundery showers sweep across the country.

This morning's Chief Forecaster's Assessment said: "As with most recent days, temperatures will rise, triggering some heavy downpours.

"Some will become thundery, leading to slow-moving downpours across the warning area.

"Some locations will miss these but where they do occur, please be aware of possible localised flooding and disruption to travel. Lightning could be an additional hazard."

The worst of the weather is expected between noon and 5pm today, while there is more heavy rain expected tomorrow.
