Mayoral tributes to former first citizen
MAYORS past and present turned out to pay tribute to another of Rotherham’s previous first citizens.
The current Mayor of Rotherham, Cllr John Foden, joined ex-Mayors Shaun Wright, Iain St John, Dave Pickering and Allan Jackson and MP John Healey among the mourners at the funeral of Jack Carr, who was Mayor in 1992/3, on Monday.
Mr Carr, who died following a short illness on December 5, aged 86, was laid to rest following a service at St Mary’s Church in Rawmarsh.

Hide AdMr Carr was described by his family as “a wonderful man, driven entirely by his love for his wife of 63 years, Betty, his family and the community of Rawmarsh.”
The family asked for donations to the British Heart Foundation and Macmillan Nurses.
