Man questioned over robberies

A MAN has been charged and remanded in custody following two robberies in Conisbrough.

Steven Thorpe (28), of Windhill Crescent, Mexborough, appeared at Doncaster Magistrates' Court yesterday charged with two counts of robbery and an attempted robbery on Sunday, July 3.

He has been remanded in custody until his next appearance at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday, August 10.

On July 3, at around 9.30pm, a 41-year-old man was approached by three men on Gardens Lane at the junction with Ivanhoe Road and his iPhone and wallet were allegedly stolen.

At around 9.35pm, a second report was received of three men approaching a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl on Station Road in Conisbrough, and the girl’s bag was allegedly stolen.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who was in the Gardens Lane or Station Road area at around the time of the reported incidents.
