A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to 27 years in jail for stabbing his boss to death and seriously injuring a colleague during a vicious knife attack at a butchers shop.

A 27-year-old man has been jailed for 27 years after stabbing his boss to death and seriously injuring a colleague during a vicious knife attack at a butcher's shop.

Naeem Mehmood fatally stabbed Parvaiz Iqbal (40) on October 15 at the Bismillah store on Grosvenor Road, Eastwood, and injured another 40-year-old man who was left fighting for his life, Sheffield Crown Court heard.

He then fled the scene brandishing a large knife, damaging vehicles and smashing a shop window as he made his way through the town.

A large-scale police operation was mounted and Mehmood was arrested, across town, in the car park of the Tesco supermarket.

Mehmood, of Herringthorpe Valley Road, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court today (21) where he pleaded guilty to murder and grievous bodily harm with intent.

He was sentenced to life for the murder, with a minimum of 27 years, and 10 years for grievous bodily harm with intent.

The sentences are to run concurrently.
