Man hit by car while loading trailer at side of road

A PENSIONER was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash on Saturday afternoon.

A PENSIONER was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash.

The 69-year-old was loading a trailer parked at the side of the Worksop-bound carriageway of the A57 at South Anston on Saturday.

He was hit by a red and silver coloured Mitsubishi L200 4x4 shortly after 3pm and suffered significant leg injuries.

Police said he remained in a critical but stable condition on Monday at Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital. 

The 25-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi was not injured.
