Maltby drink-driver attacked good Samaritan

A TEENAGE drink-driver who crashed his dad’s car attacked a good Samaritan who tried to stop his one-man crimewave.

Samuel Brown (19) of Nelson Road, Maltby was handed a 14-week prison term suspended for 18 months for a “serious spree” of offences on July 27.

The unlicensed, uninsured teen took his dad’s Kia Sedona people carrier without permission — while three times over the drink-drive limit.

When he crashed it, have-a-go hero Paul Orme tried to stop him driving off again, but Brown assaulted him and escaped.

Brown was already subject to a conditional discharge for assault and criminal damage on February 8 when he committed the July crime spree.

Alongside the suspended jail term he was ordered to pay £100 compensation, £50 costs and a £150 criminal courts charge.

He must also attend an alcohol dependency course for nine months.
