Long delays after Swinton crash leaves car on its side

A CAR ended up on it side in an accident which caused rush-hour traffic chaos.

The crash happened at between 8am and 9am this morning outside The Gate pub on Golden Smithies Lane in Swinton.

The driver of the silver Toyota Yaris which tipped over suffered back injuries and the 56-year-old driver of a grey Skoda Fabia also involved was taken to hospital with injuries which police said were not thought to be life-threatening.

Motorists on Golden Smithies Lane, Rowms Lane and surrounding roads faced long delays as they queued to pass the scene before the road reopened at 11.30am.
