John Heald charged with murder and rapes

Heald was arrested on Friday in Parkgate following a five day manhunt after Mrs Carter was found dead at her Humberside B&B on Friday, July 18.

A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: “Following continued questioning of Heald in connection with the investigation into the murder of Bei Carter, it is now confirmed that the 53 year-old is charged with her murder.”

Heald (53) of Foljambe Road, Rotherham, has also been charged with ten counts of rape in South Yorkshire on July 13.

He is due to appear at Beverley Magistrates Court tomorrow (July 30).
