Jobs boost as big names move into Parkgate Shopping

TWO High Street names have announced plans to create more than 80 jobs by opening at Rotherham’s biggest shopping park, with one becoming the latest to move out of the town centre.

Asda is to open an Asda Living branch at Parkgate Shopping, with bosses pledging to hire 80 full and part time staff recruited from the Rotherham area.

Meanwhile, Vision Express has moved out of its Effingham Street store after 14 years and into larger premises at Parkgate, with its new branch opening today.

"We are delighted to have found new premises in such a popular location, " said franchisees Tony Wing and Melanie McKee, who said that the move had led to the recruitment of three part time staff.

In another boost to the park, electronics firm Curry’s is planning to expand its Parkgate store.
