Janice says goodbye after serving up 25 years of school meals

A DEDICATED dinner lady has served up her last portions of school meals after more than 25 years’ service.

Janice Evans (61) first started working at Aughton Primary School as a classroom assistant when her children were pupils there.

She then became a dinner lady in 1990 and has now served her last dinner with retirement now on her menu.

Mrs Evans, of Springwood Avenue, Aughton, said: “I have thorougly enjoyed my time at the school.

“I think what I’ve enjoyed the most is working with the new starters and steering them in the right direction.

“The children just inspire me and I’ve loved seeing them develop as they grow up and go through the school.”

Pupils and staff at the school held a special celebratory event for Mrs Evans on Friday.

She said: “Having been there for such a long time there are lots of different aspects I will miss.

“It’s not all been plain sailing but I hope that in the time I’ve been there I have made an impression on the children I’ve worked with.”

Mrs Evans said she now hopes to spend more time with her family, two children and two grandchildren.
