It’s gala time in Conisbrough

A COMMUNITY is promising “the best summer gala for years” when Conisbrough welcomes the fun of the fair this weekend.

The welfare field on Old Road at the junction with Gardens Lane will be transformed from 11am to 4pm on Saturday with attractions including stalls, a fair, kids’ activities and ice-cream.

The Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones, will open Consibrough Gala which will also feature performances from Conisbrough Cavaliers Marching Band, a produce show inside the Ivanhoe Centre, open from 10.30pm, an 11am dog show and display by Street Vibes Dance Studios.

Pitches will also be available on a first-come-first-served basis for a car boot sale from 9.30am.

Items from the produce show including the flower, handicraft and baking sections will be auctioned at 2.15pm with all proceeds going to charity.

A gala organiser said: “Local businesses and groups in and around Conisbrough have come together to create the best Summer Gala for years.

“We are calling on locals to join in the fun on the day for this joint venture between Conisbrough Forward, the Ivanhoe Centre and Doncaster Council’s neighbourhood team.

“There will be limited parking available at the Ivanhoe Centre and the Stone Castle Surgery but the welfare field is on the bus route for both the X78 and 222/220 buses.”
