Hunt for owners of stolen watches

POLICE believe stolen watches found in Torquay could have come from Rotherham.

A 32-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man from Rotherham were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

Twenty timepieces including Seconda, Timex and Rotary ones were seized on April 9.

Officers also seized a Rone watch guarantee certificate, a Zippo lighter with a civil war motif, a lighter and cigarette holder with a sovereign of Africa and a Camel lighter in the shape of a packet of cigs.

PC Brian Guntrip said: “These items must hold real sentimental value for someone and we hope the owners will come forward.

“It would be a great shame if these items are kept in a police store when we are sure someone would love to have them back.”

The items may be from Rotherham, Torbay or Plymouth, officers have said. The pair arrested were bailed until May 7.

Anyone with information should contact PC Guntrip, at Totnes police station, by calling police on 101, quoting crime reference CR/23853/15.
