Hundreds of new jobs hope as Rolls Royce unveil Rotherham factory plans

ROTHERHAM could hundreds of new jobs under plans to build three hi-tech factories at The Advanced Manufacturing Park.

The plans by Rolls-Royce, who carried out a public consultation yesterday at the Catcliffe park, initially include two factories being built within in two years and employing around 360 people.

But this figure could be doubled if the plans for the third site go ahead.

One factory, to be built alongside the Advanced Manufacturing Park Technology Centre and dubbed the Advanced Blade Casting Facility, would make turbine blades.

A second plant– ‘Project Power’– is likely to be built at the same time, behind the Advanced Blade Casting Facility and dedicated to making safety critical components for civil nuclear reactors.

Details of the plans were revealed as Rolls-Royce launched a public consultation attended by Catcliffe residents, Rotherham councillors and businesspeople, ahead of a planning application being submitted in May.

A third factory could be built at a later date.
