'Huge thanks' after record harvest festival haul for Mexborough foodbank
Foodbank manager says community support is “most appreciated and much needed”
A local foodbank manager has gratefully given “huge thanks” to the community after receiving record donations for the annual Harvest Festival during the ongoing cost of living crisis.
Sean Gibbons, Mexborough, Denaby and Conisbrough Foodbank manager, said: “Huge thanks to Montagu Academy in Mexborough for another fantastic Harvest Festival donation collected last week.
“Over 200 individual items were donated and dropped off at The Willows Community Centre.
"This latest support is most appreciated and much needed as demand for food parcels has been significantly increasing across Mexborough, Denaby and Conisbrough during the cost of living crisis.
"We have been overwhelmed with the record number of Harvest Festival donations this year from local schools, nurseries and churches in Mexborough, Denaby, Conisbrough and also in Swinton and Kilnhurst.
“In addition we have received donations from Montagu Hospital - Rehab 2 Ward and also Tickhill Road Hospital - Hazel Ward in Balby.
“Meanwhile, Rotherham Hospital also collected with volunteers from our community partners Food AWARE CIC.
“If you are a local church, school or business who are able to support us at Harvest Festival time, please contact us on 01709 717186 or via email [email protected].”
