Huge crowds turn out for Rotherham show

MORE than 80,000 people descended on Clifton Park at the weekend for the 33rd annual Rotherham Show.

Stuntmen, dog owners and brass bands all slotted into their own spots alongside scores of stalls and other attractions in the sun-drenched park for the two-day event.

Families also took advantage of the late-summer heatwave to paddle in the park’s water play area or indulge in an ice cream or two.

Helping the Mayor of Rotherham, Cllr Dave Pickering, to officially open the show this year was Olympic swimmer Joe Roebuck, who competed in the 200 metres butterfly in London.

On Sunday, the ever-popular Vintage Vehicle Rally — including over 100 cars as well as a wealth of two-wheeled wonders — took a tour of the town centre before forming a gleaming display for car lovers.
