Householder suffers smoke inhalation in accidental fire

THE householder of a property in Rawmarsh suffered smoke inhalation after a fire broke out last night.

Four fire crews from Rotherham, Dearne and Maltby stations were called out to the blaze, believed to have started accidentally, on Dale Street at 11pm, leaving at 12,10am.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the blaze started in the front room and caused between six and ten square metres of damage, but did not spread to other rooms. 

They added: “The occupant suffered smoke inhalation and was left with the ambulance crew.” 

Elsewhere in the borough, firefighters from Rotherham station spent nearly an hour tackling a deliberate car fire at 12.30am on Fenton Road, Kimberworth Park. 

The crew came away at 1.25am.
